This weekend I hosted a post-baby shower (due to the fact that Baby Byrd came early!) for two of our friends, Paris and Jay. We had an absolute blast and I was thrilled with how everything turned out.
Decor | I was super excited that Paris gave me free reign on decor and that she really likes pink, because I can totally do pink. I raided the leftover decor from my wedding and had a blast creating a pink party. I used the birdcage from my wedding for a place where guests could write advice and wishes to the new parents. I used book pages to make the pennant banner above the birdcage and the one on the mantle. ("I freakin' love you," were Paris's exact words to me when she saw the "Baby Byrd" banner.) Mom helped me set up the table with a wooden box and bottles we found in PawPaw's shop, and fabric left over from my wedding. I hung leftover ribbon on a piece of twine for the table backdrop.
Food | We kept the food simple with chicken salad, strawberries and fruit dip, and some cute miniature apple pies that I made. My Gramma made some pretty pink punch that everyone loved. I also raided my mom and gramma's glassware collection so we used all real dishes. I love using the real stuff!
Games | We played two really fun games. For the first one, I melted different kinds of candy bars into numbered diapers and everyone had to guess which candy bar was in each one. It was so funny to watch people sniffing diapers! The second was a game specifically for couples. Each couple had to work together to diaper a baby doll--while holding hands. I wish I'd gotten better photos of this game, but they finished before I could get more than one! Next time I'd blindfold the players to make it more difficult. (Also, the new parents won this game by a landslide.)
This post is photo-heavy, but I hope you enjoy!
